In health and social care, there are lots of opportunities to support people with digital.
Best practice in the field of digital inclusion tells us that people are best supported through:
short bursts of repeated activity,
over a prolonged period of time,
in an informal setting,
on a one-to-one basis or in small groups,
situated in the context of the person's life.
This approach is how we embed digital skills in our services, using all sorts of opportunities for ‘digital nudges’ to help people understand the benefits of being online.
Keeping things informal and comfortable is key - and your support should always be led by what the person you are supporting wants to get from being online. Evaluating the level of current skills and confidence the person you’re working with is key to delivering the right kind of help.
In this short video, Sophia from Milan Senior Welfare Organisations shares how they embedded digital inclusion in their care inspectorate registered day care service in Edinburgh.
